My name is David Clough and I am the owner and founder of Driving Rochdale. I qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor in 2009 and have a fully up to date DBS check. My passion for driver training came from my experience as a learner driver. I generally did well on my driving lessons however my struggles on the road came after passing my driving test when I had to drive independently. It was a steep learning curve and I reflected on my difficulties when it came to planning my programme of tuition; to ensure that newly qualified drivers were better equipped to not just pass their tests, but to be able to drive confidently and safely over the coming years.
In 2011 I undertook my 1st Check Test. These checks are carried out periodically by the DVSA on all instructors to monitor and maintain the quality of driving tuition. I was proud to achieve a Grade 5 (Instructors are graded 1 to 6, one being lowest and six the highest possible score). Over the last few years I have had my fair share of driving lesson stories, some funny, some cringeworthy. But the best stories are always when pupils pull back up at the test centre with a test pass certificate. There is no better feeling.
